Geometric Aesthetics: A Harmonious Blend of Zen and Modern Design

Creating a Calm and Stable State of Mind

In the "Geometric Aesthetics" design, the focus is on optimizing both functionality and spatial aesthetics. The large-scale TV wall extends the living room space, while the raised ceiling creates a sense of openness. The space is sculptured with simple and neat iron pieces, outlining geometric elements of squares and circles.

With a 70 sqm interior space, the design maximizes utilization by incorporating features such as a retractable wall bed that combines the reading area and sleeping area. The wooden floors are raised to increase storage, and a spring-loaded tableboard adds flexibility to the bar area.

The design team, including Shun-Yuan Chang, SHU RONG LIN, and QING PEI LI, overcame the challenge of creating three bedrooms and two living and dining areas within a small space. The design meets the storage needs of the hostess while maintaining a sense of magnanimity and Zen style.

The functionality of the design is enhanced by the use of different orientations in the electrical cabinet, overcoming the limitations of the small kitchen space. Vertically rising door sheet hardware reduces the space occupied by the door when opened, and a connecting sliding glass door visually enlarges the dining area. The open design promotes dialogue and interaction in the public area.

The "Geometric Aesthetics" design was completed in July in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The designers incorporated stone materials and warm wood materials, along with a color palette of black, gray, and Morandi colors, to create a calm and magnanimous atmosphere. The design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category.
